FIFA Rankings: Nigeria’s Super Eagles Jump to 26th Globally, Third in Africa

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have risen to 26th place in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings, securing the third spot in Africa, according to Monday’s release.

The national team moved up 12 places from 38th, following their strong performance at the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco, where they finished third.

With a points gain of +79.09—the highest in the latest rankings—Nigeria’s rise reflects their outstanding showing at the tournament.

Under coach Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles won six of seven games, defeating Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Mozambique, Algeria, and Egypt, before losing narrowly to hosts Morocco on penalties in the semi-final.

In Africa, Nigeria now trails only Senegal, the 2025 AFCON champions ranked 12th globally, and Morocco, ranked eighth worldwide. Algeria and Egypt hold fourth and fifth positions on the continent.

The global top 10 teams are Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Morocco, Belgium, and Germany.
