The Department of State Services (DSS) has taken former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, back into custody shortly after he left Kuje Prison, having fulfilled the conditions of his bail.
Sources indicate that the former minister is now under a fresh investigation by the DSS. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly discovered arms at Malami’s residence in Kebbi during a recent search.
Malami had previously claimed that the DSS was planning to re-arrest him. His Special Assistant on Media, Mohammed Bello Doka, stated that the secret police were conducting surveillance at Kuje Prison with the intention of taking him back into custody. Despite meeting all bail requirements, Malami was subsequently detained by the DSS.
