Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has expressed confidence ahead of Nigeria’s opening match against Tanzania at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ndidi said Eric Chelle’s squad is fully prepared for the clash with the Taifa Stars, with all 28 invited players fit and available after a smooth build-up to the tournament.
Nigeria, three-time AFCON champions, have also suffered just one defeat in their last 14 group-stage matches at the competition.
“The atmosphere in camp is very positive and the energy level is high. This match is crucial because it sets the tone for the rest of the tournament,” Ndidi told journalists on Monday.
The midfielder missed the last AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire due to injury. Recently named team captain following William Troost-Ekong’s retirement from international football, the 29-year-old previously featured for Nigeria at the 2019 and 2021 AFCON finals.
