A medical doctor has reportedly been apprehended by the Department of State Service for allegedly supplying drugs to kidnapping gangs operating in parts of Kwara State.
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was intercepted in the Jebba area following intelligence indicating that medical supplies were being transported from Sokoto to treat gunshot wounds of bandits hiding in forests across the state. Security sources noted that many of these criminal groups had sustained injuries during recent confrontations with security forces.
A security official urged heightened vigilance in health facilities located in densely forested areas, which kidnappers could target.
Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, confirmed the arrest, describing it as a significant development in the fight against banditry. He stated that the action demonstrates the effectiveness of security agencies in dismantling support networks that aid criminal operations.
Ajakaye emphasized that the state government remains committed to working closely with security agencies to eliminate all avenues that facilitate kidnapping activities.
