The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has commenced training for its e-registration exercise, describing the digital membership drive as central to the party’s strategy for victory in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at APC Secretariat in Makurdi, venue of the exercise, the state chairman of the party, Chief Benjamin Omale, said the transition to an electronic register would strengthen internal structures and improve electoral readiness. He added that outstanding performance by officials involved in the exercise would be adequately recognised and rewarded.

Chief Benjamin Omale also expressed profound appreciation to Governor Hyacinth Alia for graciously sponsoring the e-registration training exercise. He describe the governor’s support as a demonstration of his commitment to strengthening the APC and deepening internal democratic processes in the state.

The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga, formally declared the training open, highlighting the importance of a credible digital membership database. He urged government appointees to prioritise party dues and commended the leadership achievements of Governor Hyacinth Alia and President Bola Tinubu, passing a vote of confidence in both leaders.

The initiative, the Speaker said, aligns with the APC’s broader plan to reposition itself as a modern, technology-driven political organisation.

According to the Benue State Coordinator of the e-registration exercise, Hon. James Ornguga, the digitalisation of the party’s membership records is vital to strengthening its foundation and enhancing operational efficiency.

“The party is on a strategic mission to count its votes before the election by digitally documenting every single member,” Ornguga said. He urged senatorial administrators, local government supervisors, ward registration agents and other stakeholders to demonstrate diligence, stressing that their work would be monitored closely at the highest levels, including by President Tinubu, the National Party Chairman, and Governor Alia.

The training was facilitated by Comrade Angula Bishop Reuben (Zone A Coordinator), Hon. Reuben Lubem Nyinya (Zone B Coordinator) and Hon. Attah Mark Ochoga (Zone C Coordinator), who joined Ornguga in taking participants through the technical processes of the e-registration platform.

Also addressing attendees, the Chairman of the Benue Internal Revenue Service, Hon. Joseph Kwaghgba, emphasised the need for teamwork, urging supervisors to work closely with ward agents to ensure that all party members are mobilised and registered.

In her closing remarks, Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Lami Danladi Ogenyi, called for strict adherence to guidelines to guarantee accuracy and uniformity during the exercise.

Meanwhile, the party leadership has encouraged Local Government Supervisors and Ward Registration Agents across the 276 wards to intensify efforts and embrace additional refresher training sessions, which is necessary, to meet the party’s ultimatum to conclude all trainings in the second week of December. The APC said this final phase of capacity-building is crucial to ensuring full preparedness ahead of the official rollout of the e-registration program.

The APC urged its members and the wider public to await further directives on the official start date of the e-registration.

The development follows recent remarks by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, reaffirming the party’s commitment to fully implementing the nationwide digital membership project launched last year.
