Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), the multi-agency task force established to maintain peace and tackle insecurity in Plateau State, have arrested a middle-aged man, Musa Ali, for allegedly impersonating a member of the outfit to extort money from the family of an arrested criminal.
According to Hobnob News, OPSH Media Information Officer, Maj. Samson Nantip Zhakhom, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that Ali was apprehended after fraudulently posing as a serving OPSH personnel and collecting ₦400,000 from the family of a notorious gunrunner currently under investigation.
Maj. Zhakhom said the suspect approached the family and falsely claimed he could halt the ongoing investigation and secure the gunrunner’s release from custody. The fraudulent scheme was uncovered by OPSH operatives, leading to Ali’s arrest.
“Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) wishes to draw the attention of the general public to the activities of one Mr. Musa Ali, who was recently arrested for impersonating as a personnel of OPSH with intent to defraud unsuspecting members of the public,” Maj. Zhakhom stated.
He emphasized that OPSH does not collect money or other forms of gratification to release suspects or stop investigations. According to him, all suspects arrested by the outfit undergo thorough investigations in line with established legal procedures to ensure justice and maintain peace across the Joint Operations Area.
Maj. Zhakhom stressed that the arrest of Ali reflects OPSH’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption, assuring the public that the suspect will be prosecuted upon conclusion of investigations.
