THE Court of Appeal in Abuja has sacked Hon. Danjuma Shidi as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Taraba South Senatorial District election and now recognised Hon. David Jimkuta as the authentic candidate ahead of the 2023 election.
This was revealed in a unanimous decision issued by the appellate court, which overturned the decision of a Federal High Court in Abuja, which previously recognised Shidi as the APC candidate in the said senatorial election.
The appeal court’s three judges, led by Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, overturned the high court’s decision, and all of Jimkuta’s prayers were granted.
Jimkuta was declared as the lawful winner of APC southern Taraba primary election.
In his response, Jimkuta praised the Appeal Court decision and thanked God for ensuring justice for the people of Taraba South.
“It is my desire to be a God-fearing leader who demonstrates democratic principles and distributes the dividends of democracy to all areas in Taraba State’s southern senatorial district. Let us join hands because this project requires a collective effort from all of us,” he said.
JImkuta who is optimistic of winning the senatorial seat, says he will join hands with relevant agencies of government to reduce the unemployment that is bedevilling the teeming youths of southern Taraba.
