Former Senator Dino Melaye officially stepped into the legal arena on Friday, marking his first appearance in court as a practicing lawyer.
Clad in a traditional wig and gown, the former Kogi West lawmaker appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite at Court 8 of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in what many have described as a significant transition from politics to legal practice.
“Senator Dino Melaye at the Federal High Court Abuja today. Appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite of Court 8,” the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain wrote on his verified Facebook page.
Melaye was recently called to the Nigerian Bar in early July 2025, after completing his law degree at Baze University, Abuja. He was part of the cohort of over 5,000 new lawyers admitted to the legal profession.
Known for his vibrant presence in Nigerian politics, Melaye previously served as a member of the House of Representatives and later as Senator for Kogi West during the 8th National Assembly. His foray into the legal field marks a new chapter in a career that has also included activism, public speaking, and reality television appearances.
Legal observers and political analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the former senator navigates this new professional path.
