The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kano State Command, has announced that 58 inmates are currently participating in the 2025 National Examination Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Musbahu Kofar-Nasarawa, according to Hobnob News.
Kofar-Nasarawa revealed that the Kano State Government fully sponsored the registration fees for the inmates as part of its ongoing support for the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders into society.
“The NCoS Kano State Command remains committed to providing a conducive environment for the rehabilitation and reformation of inmates,” the statement said.
The initiative is part of broader efforts by the Nigerian Correctional Service to equip inmates with formal education and life skills that can help them reintegrate successfully and contribute positively to society upon release.
Authorities have applauded the gesture by the Kano State Government, calling it a significant step in promoting education as a tool for reformation within correctional centres.
