Mustapha Isa, a staff member of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), died on Thursday, May 29, while repairing an electrical fault in the Mabushi area of Abuja.
Isa was working atop an electrical pole around 5:50 p.m. when he was electrocuted, fell from the pole, and suffered a fatal head injury.
Reports indicate that Isa was working at the Mabushi office when the electrocution occurred.
He was rushed to the General Hospital in Gwarinpa but was declared dead on arrival. His body was later taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, for an autopsy.
AEDC management described the incident as “a deeply regrettable tragedy” and expressed their condolences.
They pledged to enhance safety measures and training to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The company has previously faced criticism over worker safety, with concerns about inadequate equipment and safety protocols.
