Kwankwasiyya Coalition Warns Governor Abba Yusuf Against “Cabinet Cabals”

The National Kwankwasiyya Coalition of Concerned Citizens for Sustainable Development has issued a stern warning to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf over the alleged activities of certain cabinet members who, according to the group, are undermining his administration from within.

In a statement released on Monday and signed by its National Chairman, Comrade Dayyib Hassan Ahmad, the coalition expressed growing concern that the actions of some close aides and officials contradict the governor’s development-focused agenda and the ideals of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and Kwankwasiyya Movement.

“This coalition, which was established since 2019, found it worthy to draw the attention of the governor to be wary of some members of his kitchen cabinet,” the statement read. “These individuals are not only failing to deliver on their responsibilities but are also placing personal financial interests above the liberation and development of the people.”

The coalition lamented that loyalists who were instrumental to the NNPP’s electoral victory in Kano are being sidelined, while others who contributed little to the party’s success now hold significant influence and appear more focused on personal enrichment than public service.

Comrade Ahmad urged Governor Yusuf to re-evaluate his team and remove those deemed ineffective or self-serving, stating that such reforms are critical to maintaining public trust and advancing the goals of his administration.

“We urge the governor to take a bold stand and distance himself from these so-called ‘cabinet cabals’ who are working against the collective interest,” he said. “It is time to reward those who genuinely supported this movement and put the people of Kano first.”

The coalition reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya ideology, while calling for a realignment of leadership within the administration to ensure the governor’s vision for sustainable development is not derailed.

Governor Yusuf, a known disciple of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, has yet to respond to the coalition’s statement. However, political analysts say the warning reflects simmering tensions within the party’s ranks and may prompt internal shakeups in the coming months.
