KADUNA — The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria’s North-West zone has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
This endorsement came during the APC North-West Stakeholders Meeting held in Kaduna on Saturday. The motion was moved by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abas, and seconded by Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, marking a strong show of unity within the zone.
In a communiqué read by Kaduna State Governor and APC North-West Coordinating Governor, Senator Uba Sani, party stakeholders also passed a vote of confidence in Tinubu, emphasizing the need for continuity of his administration’s reforms.
In a reciprocal gesture, the party granted automatic second-term tickets to all incumbent APC governors in the North-West zone for the 2027 governorship elections.
The meeting saw the presence of top APC leaders including National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, governors Uba Sani (Kaduna), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), and Umar Namadi (Jigawa). Governors of Katsina and Sokoto were represented.
Also in attendance were Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Environment Balarabe Abbas Lawal, former Katsina Governor Aminu Bello Masari, former Senator Shehu Sani, Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima, Senator Adamu Aliero, and several former federal lawmakers and APC stalwarts from the zone.
The party’s collective decision signals a strong regional backing for President Tinubu’s 2027 ambition and sets the tone for future political alignments in the zone.
