Mother in Agony as Babcock Student Mysteriously Disappears

A concerned mother, Fijabi Omotayo, has cried out for help over the mysterious disappearance of her son, Oladipupo Siwajuola, a student of Babcock University in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.

In a Facebook Live broadcast, the heartbroken mother revealed that she personally dropped her son off at the university on the evening of Sunday, April 27, 2025, but has been unable to reach or trace him ever since.

Omotayo made a public plea to the authorities and the general public, urging anyone with useful information to come forward. She lamented that her visit to the institution provided no clarity, as school officials reportedly claimed that students sometimes hide within the premises.

“I dropped him off myself on Sunday evening, and for three days now, I haven’t slept. I went to the school, and they said students may be hiding. But this is my child, and I want to find him. Babcock University must help me,” she stated emotionally.

In an earlier social media post, Omotayo accused the university of failing to be transparent, especially regarding two students — identified as Lampard and Tobi — whom she alleged were the last known individuals to see her son.

“Babcock University, Ilisan — kindly be accountable. Tell me where my son, Oladipupo Siwajuola, is. My family should not suffer because of your silence,” she said.

Reacting to the outcry, the Special Assistant on New Media to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Emmanuel Ojo, disclosed that he had contacted the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, who in turn reached out to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo. The Vice-Chancellor, unaware of the situation until then, confirmed receiving the student’s information and assured that the matter would be investigated thoroughly.

Security agencies are now involved in the search. A university source confirmed that the school’s security department is actively investigating the case and has invited those mentioned by the mother for questioning.

Dr. Joshua Suleiman, Babcock’s Director of Marketing and Communications, verified the incident to Hobnob News, stating, “The case is known to us and is currently being handled by our internal security.”

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, also confirmed that the matter was officially reported to law enforcement on Saturday. “We are investigating and working to get full cooperation from the university. Efforts are ongoing,” he assured.
