Nigeria Moving Backwards Since You Became President – El-Rufai Tackles Tinubu

Former Kaduna State Governor and chieftain of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu, declaring that Nigeria has regressed since Tinubu assumed office.

In an interview with Deutsche Welle Hausa, El-Rufai accused the current administration of incompetence, nepotism, and abandoning the core principles on which the All Progressives Congress (APC) was founded.

“Ever since the assumption of office of Tinubu as Nigeria’s president, the country has begun to go backwards,” El-Rufai stated. He argued that Nigeria is currently worse off in terms of insecurity, economic stability, and governance than it was under previous governments.

Highlighting growing concerns among Nigerians, El-Rufai said, “Insecurity has increased, the economy is dwindling, affluent people are now poor, and ethnic profiling is on the rise.”

He also alleged that Tinubu’s appointments are driven by personal ties and tribal affiliation rather than merit. “Whoever he is giving an appointment to must be someone he knows or from his tribe. They can dismiss that, but Nigerians are not stupid,” he added.

El-Rufai’s remarks have stirred fresh political tension, signaling deeper cracks within the ruling elite and raising questions about the direction of Tinubu’s leadership.
