The Benue Development Foundation (BDF) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator George Akume for the execution of numerous federal projects in Benue State. At a press conference held in Makurdi on February 14, 2025, the BDF commended the federal government for commencing the construction of the Makurdi-Aliade-Otukpo-Enugu road, with a flyover at the Wurukum roundabout.
The foundation praised President Tinubu for approving the construction of a bridge across River Buruku, which will end the perennial problem of boat mishaps that have claimed several lives and properties. Other notable projects include the construction and commissioning of the Benue Fashion Hub and the installation of streetlights in Makurdi, Gboko, and Otukpo.

The BDF also commended President Tinubu for assenting to the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) Bill 2024 and the Bill establishing the Federal College of Agricultural Technology, Opialu Ojapo. These projects are expected to strengthen the economy and infrastructural development of the North-Central geopolitical zone.
Furthermore, the BDF praised Senator Akume’s appointment as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, noting that his commitment and dedication to the development of Benue State have never been in doubt.
The foundation called on all Benue people to support Senator Akume in his assignment as SGF, enabling Benue to continue attracting more federal presence. They also commended the immediate past Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, for his unity and harmonious relationship with Senator Akume.
The BDF appealed to the Governor of Benue State, Revd. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, to convene a Benue Stakeholders meeting on security to address the growing insecurity challenges in the state.
