Kogi Varsity Student Abducted, Later Discovered Naked in Kwara

The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday announced the rescue of Fauziyah Muhammed, a 19-year-old 400-level English Education student of Abubakar Audu University, Ayangba, Kogi State, who was reportedly abducted and later found wandering naked in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Fauziyah was allegedly kidnapped in Ayangba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sunday. According to the NSCDC, she was hypnotized and subsequently abandoned in the Ajegunle-Isale area of Egbejila Road, Ilorin.

Speaking at a press briefing in Ilorin, the Kwara NSCDC Commandant, Dr. Umar Muhammed, revealed that residents discovered Fauziyah wandering naked early Monday morning. Good Samaritans provided her with clothing and alerted the NSCDC, who took her into their custody.

“Fauziyah is no longer coherent in her speech, indicating she may have undergone a traumatic experience during her ordeal. We have reached out to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who has offered support, including fuel to facilitate her return to Kogi State tomorrow,” the commandant said.

The student, visibly disoriented, recounted a hazy memory of dropping a book, bending to pick it up, and then losing consciousness. She was subsequently found hundreds of kilometers away from her university.

The NSCDC confirmed arrangements to reunite Fauziyah with her family through her uncle, Mallam Salihu Aliu, who was authorized to act on their behalf.

In a related development, the NSCDC paraded a suspect, Abu Usman Soja, who is believed to be an informant for kidnappers. Soja allegedly provided information leading to the abduction of a woman and her two children in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and urged communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
