Newly re-elected Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and his Deputy, Olayide Adelami, on Tuesday, presented their Certificates of Return to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Speaking to journalists after the visit, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to the President for ensuring a level playing field during the election. The governor also extended an olive branch to his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), urging the opposition to collaborate for the state’s progress.
“If he has ideas for the betterment of Ondo State, he should pass them through us for implementation, so the people can ultimately benefit,” Aiyedatiwa said.
The governor, who secured a landslide victory by winning all 18 local government areas in the November 16 election, attributed his success to the effective governance his administration delivered over the past 10 months.
“The people have seen what we’ve achieved in a short time, which is why they came out en masse to vote for our party,” Aiyedatiwa stated.
Addressing the economic challenges facing the state, the governor encouraged residents to explore innovative ways to boost their income while emphasizing that the current hardship following subsidy removal was temporary.
“The people of Ondo State are not only politically aware but also economically conscious. We’ve educated them that these economic challenges are a phase and that society is not static,” he explained.
Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance and called on all stakeholders, including the opposition, to work together for the collective development of the state.
