Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has officially signed the reversed Appropriation Bill of N485.63 billion into law, marking a significant milestone for the new administration. The move is set to pave the way for the swift implementation of development projects across the state.

The approved budget, passed by the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), allocates N202.65 billion for recurrent expenditures and N282.99 billion for capital projects. Governor Okpebholo expressed his gratitude to the lawmakers for their prompt action in passing the Bill, which he believes will drive transformative governance in the state.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, Governor Okpebholo commended the cooperative spirit of the legislature. “I want to thank you for your cooperation and the speedy passage of this bill. With this momentum, Edo State is set to experience remarkable development. I see a team of dedicated individuals ready to work for the betterment of our state,” he said.

The signing ceremony, held at the Executive Council Chamber, was attended by the Speaker of the EDHA, Honorable Blessing Agbebaku, and other lawmakers. Agbebaku, who praised the legislature’s commitment to the administration’s vision, reiterated the importance of continuity in government.

“The 8th Assembly expedited the passage of this appropriation law to allow the new administration to commence its projects without delay. Government is a continuum, and we are committed to fostering development for the people of Edo State,” Agbebaku emphasized.

The Bill, which was initially presented to the EDHA on November 13, 2024, underwent swift deliberations and passage, highlighting the strong collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government. The timely approval of the appropriation bill is expected to jump-start several developmental initiatives, with a focus on infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

Governor Okpebholo’s administration aims to set the tone for a transformative period in Edo State, and with the Appropriation Bill now signed into law, the stage is set for the rollout of key projects that will benefit the state’s citizens.
