The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has sounded the alarm, accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of employing tactics of intimidation, harassment, and character assassination against opposition leaders in the run-up to Saturday’s governorship election in Ese-Odo.
In a statement released by Icon-James Tam, a member of the Media and Publicity Council for the PDP governorship campaign, the party alleged a “calculated plot” by the APC to disrupt opposition activities and undermine the credibility of PDP leaders, specifically targeting Arogbo Ward 1 and Mr. Dickson Alabor.
The PDP has called on security agencies to maintain vigilance and prevent any actions that might disturb public order, emphasizing that no political party holds a monopoly on violence. The party attributed the APC’s actions to desperation, citing the ruling party’s waning popularity and impending defeat.
Key Concerns:
Intimidation and Harassment_: APC’s alleged tactics against opposition leaders
Character Assassination_: Targeting PDP leaders, specifically Mr. Dickson Alabor
Disruption of Public Order_: Potential consequences of APC’s actions
Security Concerns_: PDP calls for vigilance and proactive measures
The PDP has urged the APC not to direct frustration towards opposition leaders due to their impending loss in Ese-Odo, particularly in Arogbo. The party reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining decorum and abiding by the rules of engagement before, during, and after the election.
The election is scheduled to take place on November 16.
