Omoyele Sowore Slams Edo Governor, Obaseki for Focusing on Hotel Construction Instead of Student Housing

Rights activist and convener of RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, has criticized Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki for his hotel project.

Sowore condemned Obaseki for prioritizing the construction of a 170-room “Edo Radisson Hotel,” promising its completion by November, while neglecting the 1,700-room hostel for students during his entire eight-year term.

During a project inspection on Tuesday, Obaseki stated, “A great amount of work has been done in the last three months, as the facial aspect of the hotel is being cleaned up and a lot of work is going on in all the floors.”

He expressed satisfaction with the project’s progress, saying, “I am quite satisfied with the progress of work as we are making very fast progress. We are optimistic that the project will be completed in due time.” He assured, “This project will be completed before I leave office in November 2024.”

In response, Sowore shared his thoughts on X, saying, “Here is Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, inspecting a 170-room ‘Edo Radisson Hotel’ threatening that it must be completed by November 2024, makes me wonder why his likes never built a 1,700-room students’ hostel throughout his 8-year tenure looking precisely like these hotel rooms. Wicked People!”

Sowore’s comments highlight the contrast between the governor’s focus on luxury accommodations and the lack of infrastructure for students in Edo State, raising concerns about the administration’s priorities.
