EFCC Grills Prof. Shola Olatunde Adepoju Over Corruption Allegations

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently questioned Prof. Shola Olatunde Adepoju, Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Ilawe Ekiti, regarding corruption allegations during his tenure as Director General of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) in Ibadan, Oyo State [no source].

 

Adepoju, who led FRIN from March 31, 2015 to March 31, 2023, faces accusations of diverting government properties. Notably, President Bola Tinubu appointed him Chairman of the Federal College of Education’s Governing Council in June 2024.

 

 

Under the leadership of Executive Chairman Ola Olukoyede, the EFCC has been intensifying its anti-corruption efforts, employing a comprehensive approach that includes preventive measures, technological innovations, and international collaboration ¹. The commission has achieved significant results in various areas, demonstrating the effectiveness of its strategies.

 

 

In a related development, Olukoyede emphasized the importance of collective responsibility and greater emphasis on preventive frameworks against graft during his confirmation as EFCC Chair.He also stressed the need for a transactional credit system to combat financial crimes.

 

 

The EFCC’s actions underscore Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening institutions and promoting transparency in the fight against corruption.
