Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has reassured Nigerians that capturing notorious bandit kingpin, Bello Turji, is imminent. Turji is currently hiding in the forests of Sokoto and Zamfara.
Speaking at the 38th-anniversary dinner of the Nigerian Defence Academy’s 38 Regular Course, General Musa acknowledged the significant security challenges facing the country, particularly in the Northwest. He emphasized that the Armed Forces and other security agencies are making progress in addressing the situation.
“We are tracking down Bello Turji. Getting him is just a matter of time,” General Musa stated. He stressed that security agencies are collaborating to ensure Turji is brought to justice, noting that the bandit has “nowhere to hide.”
General Musa attributed Nigeria’s security challenges to a global phenomenon, citing improved technologies. He appealed for public support, urging Nigerians to report suspicious activities. “We can’t do it alone,” he emphasized.
The Defence Chief’s remarks come as Nigeria grapples with escalating insecurity. The military’s efforts to combat banditry and terrorism have intensified in recent months. General Musa’s assurance has sparked hopes of a breakthrough in the fight against terrorism.
