APC Members Attacked in Edo as Election-Related Violence Escalates

In a disturbing escalation of election-related violence, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were attacked by suspected Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) thugs in Illeh, Ekpoma, Esan West, earlier today.

Imoisili Inegbedion and Alfred, both of APC Ward 10, were ambushed while on party duty, sparking fears of widespread violence ahead of the September 21 governorship election.

This incident is the latest in a series of violent assaults allegedly orchestrated by PDP loyalists, including threats issued by the party’s spokesperson and attacks on the convoy of APC governorship candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo.

The APC Campaign Council has accused Governor Godwin Obaseki of resorting to dirty tactics to intimidate the opposition, raising concerns about the potential for election-related unrest.

Residents are increasingly fearful as the attacks continue, with many calling for increased security measures to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

The incident has further heightened tensions in the state, with many worrying about the impact of violence on the upcoming election.
