A group of over 400 Nigerian women has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders of deceiving them with false promises of rice and palliatives. The women were mobilized from various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Abuja to thwart the planned nationwide #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.
According to the women, they were promised 50kg bags of rice and transport logistics but instead received banners with “Say No To Protest” and were photographed to claim they opposed the protest. They were left without the promised rice or transport fare.
Esther Adelana, a member of the African Youth Union Commission, lamented the disappointment and accused the APC leaders of using the women for propaganda. She expressed disappointment in the leadership and warned others to be cautious.
The incident has sparked outrage, with many condemning the APC’s tactics as deceptive and exploitative. The women’s experience has raised concerns about the party’s willingness to manipulate and deceive citizens for political gain.
