Religious Leaders Caution Youths Against Joining Planned Protest in Nasarawa State

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Karu Local Government Area have urged youths to refrain from participating in the planned nationwide protest on August 1, 2024.

At a press briefing on Saturday, Rev. Joshua Dakulu, CAN chairman in Karu, appealed to youth groups organizing the protest to seek dialogue with the federal government instead. He emphasized that nationwide protests have never yielded positive outcomes, citing the painful memories of the 2020 ENDSARS protests.

Dakulu urged Christians and Muslims to avoid participating in the protest and instead engage in dialogue and prayers for the government to address the country’s challenges. This stance aligns with the appeal made by Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, to local government chairmen, religious leaders, and traditional rulers to discourage youths from participating in the protest, ensuring peaceful coexistence in the state.
