The Defence Headquarters has raised concerns about a proposed nationwide protest, stating that it has intelligence suggesting the demonstration will be hijacked by unscrupulous elements aiming to incite violence.
Maj Gen Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, addressed journalists in Abuja on Thursday, cautioning that the protest’s true intention is to replicate the violent unrest currently unfolding in Kenya.
Buba emphasized that the Kenyan protests have been marked by violence and remain unresolved, serving as a warning for Nigeria. He stressed that the planned protest in Nigeria is at risk of being exploited by malicious actors seeking to spark chaos.
The Defence Headquarters urged citizens to be vigilant and aware of the potential risks, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the country.
