Benue Governor, Alia, Commits to Paying N70,000 Minimum Wage to State Workers

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has announced that his administration is ready to pay the federal government-approved N70,000 minimum wage to state workers. Speaking to newsmen in Makurdi, Governor Alia emphasized the importance of civil servants, describing them as the “engine room of government” who need encouragement.

Despite the challenging economic conditions, the governor expressed optimism about the state’s improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and measures in place to boost finances. He assured that the state government is committed to paying the minimum wage, acknowledging the agreement between the federal government and organized labor.

Governor Alia stressed the significance of a motivated workforce, stating that without civil servants, governance would lack direction. He reaffirmed his administration’s focus on prioritizing the welfare of state workers, aligning with the federal government’s approval.
