Tinubu Agrees to N70,000 New Minimum Wage, Labour Leaders Welcome Development

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the demand for a new minimum wage of N70,000, a significant increase from the current wage. This development came after a meeting between the organized labour and government officials, led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.

The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, was attended by prominent labour leaders, including Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), and Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC). The labour leaders arrived in a convoy, signaling their unity and determination.

The agreement marks a significant victory for Nigerian workers, who have been advocating for a wage increase to address the country’s economic challenges. The new minimum wage is expected to improve the standard of living for many Nigerians and boost economic activity.
