BREAKING: Court Nullifies PDP Governorship Primary Election in Edo

A Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship primary election, which took place on February 22, 2024.

The election was deemed invalid due to the unlawful exclusion of 378 delegates who were supposed to participate in the voting process.

Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo delivered the judgment in response to a lawsuit filed by the affected delegates, represented by Hon. Kelvin Mohammed.

The court held that the PDP violated both the Electoral Act 2022 and its own guidelines during the primary election held at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin.

This ruling is a significant setback for the PDP and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo.

With this development, the party must now conduct a fresh primary election to select its governorship candidate for the upcoming election.
