The crisis within the Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified as a result of a disagreement over the suspension of former State Chairman, Chief Segun Adewale (aka Aeroland).
The Lagos State Executive Committee of the PDP claims it suspended Adewale based on a notice from his Ward in Alimosho Local Government, but Adewale denies the suspension, citing a violation of the party’s constitution. He challenges the state exco to escalate the matter to the national executive organ.
In a letter dated June 19, signed by State Secretary, Mr. Soji Orioye, the state exco claimed that Adewale’s suspension was due to alleged misconduct, including breach of the party’s constitution and anti-party activities.
However, Adewale insists that the suspension is invalid and demands that the matter be referred to the national executive organ for resolution. The dispute has further divided the party, with both sides maintaining their positions.
