VIDEO: Defence Ministry Civilian Staff Protest Brutalisation by Soldiers

Civilian staff at the Ministry of Defence protested on Tuesday, alleging brutal treatment by military personnel. The protesters, who blocked the complex’s entrance and exit, claimed their colleagues were being victimized without regard for civil laws.

Didam Joel, chairman of the Joint Executive Council, spoke to journalists, stating that civilian staff are “an endangered species.” He recalled several incidents, including the brutalization of an assistant director in Lagos on Monday, which was captured on video.

Joel said, “We can no longer bear the situation. The soldiers are treating us like animals. We are demanding justice and an end to this brutality.”

The protesters held placards and chanted slogans, demanding respect for their rights and an end to military intimidation. The Ministry of Defence has yet to comment on the allegations.
