The Senate has lifted the suspension of Senator Abdul Ningi, who was suspended on March 12, 2024, for alleging budget padding in an interview.
The decision to lift the suspension came after Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, moved a motion on Tuesday, apologizing on Ningi’s behalf and taking full responsibility for his actions.
Senator Ningi, representing Bauchi Central, was suspended for three months for claiming that the 2024 budget included an additional N3 trillion in unapproved funds. With this development, Senator Ningi is expected to resume his duties in the Senate.
