Anambra Lady Trafficked by Facebook Friend Reveals Her 2-Month Ordeal on the Road to Libya

A 21-year-old lady from Anambra State, Chika Obiakaeze, has shared her traumatic experience of being trafficked to Libya through a Facebook friend.

In an interview with PUNCH, Chika Obiakaeze said she was promised a lucrative job, but ended up being forced into prostitution.

“I was so inexperienced, I didn’t even ask people anything about the country,” Chika said. “My friend’s sister told me the work would pay me 100k daily, and I had never seen such money in my life before.”

Chika traveled to Kano, where she met the “Connection man,” who facilitated her journey to Libya.

The grueling journey took two months, during which she faced numerous challenges, including trekking through the desert, lack of food and water, and physical abuse.

“I was shocked when I was told I would be doing ‘connection one,’ which meant prostitution,” Chika said.

“I was threatened and forced to accept. I worked in a prostitution house for a month before escaping with the help of a Facebook friend.”

Chika is currently stranded in Libya, struggling to survive and desperate to return to Nigeria.

“I am tired of being stranded here. People are living in fear. I need help to go home. I want to return to Nigeria,” she said.
