The Katsina State Police Command has neutralized five suspected bandits and rescued 100 kidnapped victims in the state.
In a briefing with journalists in Katsina on Friday, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the command’s spokesman, disclosed these achievements recorded by the command in March.
He also mentioned the recovery of 658 rustled animals, and the arrest of 11 suspected murderers and 29 rapists during the same period.
Sadiq-Aliyua reported a total of 51 major crime cases, including armed robbery, kidnapping, culpable homicides, and cattle rustling, reported in March. Out of these, 30 cases involving 64 suspects were prosecuted.
Furthermore, nine suspects were apprehended for armed robbery, while 19 others were arrested for various offenses such as intimidation, incitement, theft, and association with criminal gangs.
Additionally, on Friday, the command presented over N4.5 million in cheques to 13 families of deceased police officers who died in active service.
DCP Aminu Usman-Gusau, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Finance and Administration, presented the cheques on behalf of the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa.
The funds, sourced from Group Life and Inspector General of Police Family Welfare Insurance Schemes, aim to provide support to the families of deceased personnel.
