NYSC Denies Reports of High Food Prices in Camps

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has vehemently denied social media reports alleging high food prices in orientation camps. The organization labeled the claims as unfounded and mischievous fabrications.

In a statement released by Eddy Megwa, NYSC’s Director of Press and Public Relations, the allegations were described as “laughable, absurd, and unfortunate.”

The NYSC management clarified that such claims are baseless, especially considering the experience and rank of the state coordinators involved, who are seasoned officials, many with over 25 years of dedicated service.

Additionally, Megwa outlined the operational framework of the orientation camps, emphasizing the system of checks and balances in place to ensure a smooth and well-regulated course of activities, including the feeding of corps members.

The Director-General of NYSC, Brig Gen Yushau Dogara Ahmed, expressed disappointment in the spread of false information. “We take the welfare of our Corps Members very seriously and will not tolerate any attempt to tarnish the reputation of the NYSC,” he stated.

Ahmed also urged members of the public to refrain from believing and spreading unverified claims, calling on them to trust in the integrity of the NYSC and its commitment to the well-being of Corps Members.

Megwa reiterated the NYSC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and welfare, dismissing the rumors as nothing but baseless and malicious misinformation. He called on the public to support the organization in its efforts to empower and nurture the Nigerian youth.
