It was gathered by Hobnob News reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the distribution of palliatives consisting mainly of food items to members of the National Assembly for their constituents.
The President of Nigeria gave the order for the distribution of the palliatives to the National Assembly members to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, a presidential aide, Dada Olusegun said.
Confirming the distribution on Thursday via his official X handle, presidential aide, Dada Olusegun revealed that the Senators and members of the House of Representatives have started taking stock of the Federal Government’s palliative items for their constituents.
He Stated that “After initial logistics delay, I can now confirm that Senators and members of the House of Representatives have started taking stock of the Federal Government’s palliative items for their constituents as part of efforts to ease life for all Nigerians. Each HoR member received items worth N100m while Senatorial constituencies got palliative items worth N200m.”
The order by President Tinubu for the distribution of palliatives through the National Assembly members is bound to raise concern among some given the habit of some members of the legislature in hoarding past palliatives or branding them for election purposes
