President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Akindele Egbuwalo has been appointed as the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).
Egbuwalo replaces Halima Shehu who was suspended following allegations of corruption and financial malfeasance levelled against her.
Shehu, who assumed office in October 2023 following her confirmation by the Senate on October 18, 2023 was suspended on January 2 pending further investigation into allegations of corruption against her.
Dr. Egbuwalo before his appointment was the N-Power Programme manager.
He will act in the new role pending the outcome of the investigation into the allegations against Shehu.
The National Social Investment Programme, a critical initiative aimed at alleviating poverty and promoting social inclusion across Nigeria, was established during the last administration of Muhammadu Buhari.
