21 Yobe Mourners Killed By IED Bomb Planted by Boko Haram Terrorists

About 21 mourners, mostly children and women have lost their lives when a tricycle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe State.

The bomb it was gathered exploded in Goni in Mittiri village near Gumsa town in Geidam local government area of the state, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, killing 18 persons instantly.

The victims had attended the burial of the youths killed by the Boko Haram terrorists over failure to pay tax.

“18 persons, mostly children and women died instantly while 3 died at General Hospital in Geidam when they were receiving medical treatment,” a source told the Daily Trust.

“Recently they (Boko Haram) have increased their attacks on civilians, farmers and herders,” the source added.

Another source said, “So far 21 persons have been confirmed dead while four people with minor injuries were left in the village,”

“The Jega tricycle was loaded with over 30 people who were picked-up to return them to their villages.”

Yobe State Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkareem, while confirming the incident said 20 persons had been confirmed dead in Monday attack.
