Pinnick sues Davido, demands N2.3bn, apology Over Failed Show

Former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has recently taken legal action against Nigerian music superstar, Davido, for an alleged breach of agreement. According to Pinnick, Davido failed to fulfill his performance commitment at the 19th edition of the Warri Again concert in Delta, despite receiving a substantial payment and transportation arrangements being made on his behalf.

Pinnick’s claims state that Davido was contracted to perform at the concert and had received a payment of $94,600 specifically for his appearance. Additionally, an amount of $18,000 was paid to charter a plane to transport the singer to the venue in Warri.

Following this incident, the organizers of the Warri Again concert have filed a lawsuit against Davido Music Worldwide (DWM) limited, seeking a significant amount of N2.3 billion in damages. The claimant, represented by Brownhill Investments Company Limited, is also petitioning the court for N150 million as legal and professional fees, along with an additional N30 million to cover the cost of filing the lawsuit.

As part of their legal action, the claimant is requesting a public apology from Davido, to be published on his social media accounts and in national newspapers, for four consecutive days. Amaju Pinnick further alleges that this is not the first time Davido has failed to honor his performance commitments after receiving payments in the past.

In addition to financial damages and a public apology, the claimant is seeking an injunction to prevent Davido from participating in any future shows or events within Nigeria until he refunds the payment he received for the Warri Again concert.

The legal proceedings between Amaju Pinnick and Davido highlight the importance of contractual obligations and the consequences arising from their breach. As the case progresses, both parties will have an opportunity to present their arguments and evidence before the court reaches a verdict.
