A pub owner, popularly called Iya Bisola, in the Ikirun area of Osun State has been found dead in her house, City Round learnt.
Details of what led to the incident were still sketchy as of press time, but security sources said the remains of the deceased were found in her house located around Oke Glo Area in Ikirun.
Some residents of the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, noted that marks were seen around her neck, which, according to them, suggested that she must have been strangled.
A resident, who preferred to be identified as Jide, said since the deceased’s shop, located along Station Road in Ikirun, was not close to her residence, people in the neighbourhood where she lived hardly saw her as she spent evenings attending to her patrons.
He called for a thorough investigation into the matter while asking for the reinforcement of security personnel in the town.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Yemisi Opalola, could not be reached through her mobile phone on Friday. But the spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state, Kehinde Adeleke, said in an interview that officers of the command visited the scene before the corpse was evacuated.
She added, “A popular beer parlour vendor, called Iya Bisola, at Station Road, Ikirun, was allegedly strangled to death by unknown person(s). Though the reason for her assassination is yet to be unravelled, our personnel visited the scene of the incident at Oke Glo, Ikirun, before the corpse was evacuated.”
