Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has disclosed that his meeting with Ambassador Gautier Mignot focused on preparations for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections and broader issues of shared interest between Nigeria and the European Union.
In a post on X on Monday, Atiku said he received Mignot, the Head of the European Union Delegation to Nigeria, at his Abuja residence, where they held discussions on matters affecting both Nigeria and the EU.
According to him, the conversation placed particular emphasis on the forthcoming general elections and ways to deepen cooperation between Nigeria and the European Union.
Atiku also thanked the ambassador for the visit and acknowledged the European Union’s continued commitment to promoting free, fair, peaceful and credible elections in Nigeria, while supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening the nation’s economy.
“This afternoon, I had the honour of hosting His Excellency Ambassador Gautier Mignot, Head of the European Union Delegation to Nigeria, at my residence in Abuja.
“We engaged in productive discussions on issues of mutual interest between Nigeria and the EU, with particular emphasis on the upcoming general elections.
“I expressed my appreciation for the Ambassador’s visit and for the European Union’s ongoing commitment to supporting free, fair, peaceful, and credible elections, as well as efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s economy,” Atiku wrote.
