Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, has held talks with Nigeria’s Minister of Power and Director-General of the Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Joseph Tegbe, on strengthening bilateral cooperation in key sectors including electricity, infrastructure and industrial development.

The meeting, held on Thursday, focused on advancing the strategic partnership between Nigeria and China and exploring opportunities for deeper collaboration in areas considered critical to Nigeria’s economic growth and modernization agenda.

During the discussions, Ambassador Yu congratulated Tegbe on his recent appointment as Minister of Power and commended his contributions to strengthening relations between Nigeria and China through the Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework.

The Chinese envoy reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to working closely with Nigeria to implement the outcomes of the recent Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit and other agreements reached by the leaders of both countries.

Yu emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation in sectors such as energy, power infrastructure and development projects, noting that such collaboration would help elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations to a higher level.

According to him, increased engagement in these sectors would support economic growth and deliver tangible benefits to the people of both countries.

In his response, Tegbe reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to deepening its ties with China, describing the Asian nation as a key development partner. He expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding support for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.

The minister also pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Chinese Embassy and relevant Chinese institutions to advance practical initiatives in priority areas, including electricity infrastructure, manufacturing and modern agricultural development.

The meeting underscores the growing partnership between Nigeria and China as both countries seek to expand cooperation in strategic sectors aimed at boosting economic development, improving infrastructure and enhancing industrial capacity.
