Victor Osimhen has urged fans and the public to disregard speculation surrounding his future at Galatasaray following comments made by Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle that sparked fresh transfer rumours.

The controversy emerged after Chelle explained Osimhen’s absence from Nigeria’s upcoming international friendly matches against Poland and Portugal scheduled for June.

Speaking on the striker’s omission from the squad, the Malian coach suggested that Osimhen was focusing on a potential transfer move during the summer transfer window.

“We miss two players because Victor Osimhen may be about to change clubs,” Chelle said, fueling widespread speculation about the forward’s next destination.

The comments quickly generated discussions among fans and media outlets regarding the future of the Nigerian international, who has been linked with several top European clubs in recent months.

However, Osimhen has now moved to calm the situation, revealing that he held a direct conversation with Chelle to clarify the remarks.

In a message posted on his Instagram Story on Saturday night, the striker insisted that the coach’s comments had been misinterpreted and exaggerated.

“I just got off the phone with Coach Eric Chelle regarding the comments about me in his recent interview,” Osimhen wrote.

“Unfortunately, his words have been taken out of context and blown out of proportion. He has great respect for Galatasaray, follows most of our games, and never intended to create any controversy.”

The former Napoli star also expressed appreciation for Chelle and reaffirmed his commitment to representing Nigeria whenever called upon.

“I appreciate the conversation, the opportunity to always represent my country, and I look forward to continuing to work with him.

“He is a great coach whom I respect a lot, and I kindly ask everyone to disregard the speculation surrounding this matter.”

Osimhen’s statement is expected to ease concerns among Galatasaray supporters, while also putting to rest suggestions that Chelle’s comments were intended to signal an imminent transfer away from the Turkish champions.
