Nollywood actress and politician, Doris Ogala, has declared her intention to unseat the incumbent Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, in the 2027 governorship election after emerging as the governorship candidate of the African Action Congress.

Ogala made the declaration shortly after clinching the party’s ticket, expressing confidence that the people of Abia State were ready for a change in leadership.

Addressing party supporters and delegates following her emergence, the actress-turned-politician said she was fully prepared to challenge the incumbent governor and lead the AAC to victory in the next governorship poll.

“I will unseat Governor Alex Otti come 2027 before 12pm,” Ogala declared, drawing loud cheers from party faithful at the event.

She explained that her decision to contest the election was motivated by a desire to provide inclusive governance, drive economic development, empower young people and improve the welfare of residents across the state.

According to her, Abia deserves leadership that places the interests of ordinary citizens at the centre of governance while creating opportunities for sustainable growth and development.

Ogala also pledged to run an issue-based campaign and appealed to residents of the state to support her vision for a better future.

Party officials congratulated her on securing the AAC ticket, expressing confidence in her ability to mobilise grassroots support and strengthen the party’s chances ahead of the 2027 election.

Her emergence is expected to add a new dimension to the political landscape in Abia State, as political parties begin positioning themselves for the next electoral cycle.
