CHILDREN’S DAY: GOVERNOR ALIA REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO A SAFE, SUPPORTIVE, AND INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE BENUE CHILD

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia rejoices with children across Benue State and Nigeria as they commemorate the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
He reaffirms his administration’s commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child in the state can thrive and fulfil their dreams.
He says: “Already, children in Benue State are enjoying free education from Basic 1–6 and Junior Secondary School levels.
“I have revitalized the basic education system by reconstructing and erecting over 400 new infrastructure projects (including storey buildings), as well as recruiting no fewer than 9,700 personnel to ensure efficiency.”
The Governor notes that this year’s celebration, themed: “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,” highlights the urgent need for governments, leaders, parents, and guardians to protect, empower, and provide equal opportunities for all children, while prioritizing their development, education, and protection regardless of their background, ability, or location.
He reiterates his administration’s commitment to creating a safe and secure environment for the Benue child, insisting that their well-being and future success will always remain at the forefront of this administration.
The Governor stresses that education is at the heart of his administration’s efforts to uplift children in the state and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
He cites the recruitment of teachers to address manpower shortages across schools in the state, strict monitoring through BEQAEB, and infrastructure overhaul in public schools through SUBEB as some of his administration’s initiatives aimed at ensuring a solid foundation for the children of the state.
The Governor urges parents and guardians to continually remind children of their limitless potential, encouraging them to strive to be the best in all their endeavours for a brighter future for the state and Nigeria as a whole.
He wishes the children a happy celebration.
