The Governor of Rivers state has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries scheduled to hold on Thursday in Rivers State.
The Rivers State governor announced his decision in a personally signed statement released on Wednesday night and titled, “My decision to withdraw from the Rivers State Gubernatorial Primaries.”
In the statement, Fubara said his withdrawal from the contest was made after careful consideration and consultations with political stakeholders and supporters across the state.
Despite stepping down from the race, the governor pledged his loyalty to the and assured party members of his readiness to support whoever eventually emerges as the party’s governorship candidate.
Fubara urged his supporters and political associates to remain calm, united, and committed to the overall success of the APC in the forthcoming election.
He further emphasized the need for unity within the party, stressing that the collective interest of the APC and the development of Rivers State should take precedence over individual political ambitions.
The APC governorship primaries in Rivers State are expected to hold on Thursday amid heightened political activities and consultations among party stakeholders.
