Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Kankara/Faskari/Sabuwa Federal Constituency of Katsina State have adopted former Commissioner for Environment, Hamza Sule Faskari, as the party’s consensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced during a stakeholders’ rally held in Kankara on Saturday, where party leaders and members ratified the decision reached by the constituency consensus committee.
According to party stakeholders, the adoption reflected the collective decision of APC members across the 31 wards in the three local government areas that make up the constituency.
They explained that the consensus arrangement followed wide consultations involving party leaders, ward representatives, and other critical stakeholders within the constituency.
The stakeholders added that Faskari’s political experience, popularity, acceptability among party members, and record of public service were among the factors considered in arriving at the decision.
Speaking at the rally, the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Faruk Lawal Jobe, commended the consensus committee chaired by former Deputy Governor, Tukur Ahmad Jikamshi, for what he described as a thorough and transparent process.
Jobe urged other aspirants who were not selected to accept the outcome in good faith and work towards the success of the APC in the forthcoming general elections.
In his acceptance speech, Faskari expressed appreciation to party leaders and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him.
He called for unity among APC members across the constituency and urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, ahead of the elections.
