Suspected Lakurawa Terrorists Kill Two Customs Officers in Kebbi Attack

Suspected Lakurawa terrorists have reportedly killed two marine Customs officers during an attack on a checkpoint in Gendene community, Bagudu Local Government Area.

The attack reportedly occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday when the gunmen stormed the officers’ duty post and opened fire.

A resident of the community, Bello Shata, disclosed that one of the victims, said to be a senior officer, was burnt alive after the attackers allegedly set the location where he was sleeping on fire.

According to local sources, the assailants also destroyed the operational vehicle being used by the officers during the assault.

Residents further revealed that two villagers, a man and a woman, sustained gunshot injuries during the incident and are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility.

Reacting to the development, the spokesperson of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, said the command was still gathering details about the incident.

“We will issue a statement once we get the full report,” he said.
