Rivers APC Denies Bias in Screening of Assembly Aspirants

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations that its screening process for House of Assembly aspirants was manipulated in favour of loyalists of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The party also refuted claims that aspirants believed to be aligned with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, were deliberately denied clearance during the exercise.

Reacting to the speculations, the APC leadership in the state described the allegations as false, misleading and aimed at creating unnecessary tension within the party ahead of the forthcoming political activities.

According to the party, the screening exercise was conducted in a transparent, fair and credible manner, insisting that all aspirants were assessed strictly based on the party’s guidelines and constitutional requirements.

The Rivers APC maintained that no aspirant was discriminated against on the basis of political loyalty or association with any individual within the party or the state’s political structure.

Party officials further urged members and supporters to disregard rumours of favouritism, stressing that the APC remains committed to internal democracy, unity and equal opportunity for all aspirants seeking elective positions under its platform.

The development comes amid ongoing political realignments and heightened tensions between camps loyal to Wike and Governor Fubara in Rivers State politics.
