A chieftain of the (PDP), , has called on , the Chief of Staff to President , to issue a public apology over remarks attributed to him concerning the (ADC).
The demand follows the circulation of a video in which Gbajabiamila was reportedly seen encouraging a faction of the ADC, led by Nafiu Gombe and House of Representatives member Leke Abejide, to sustain internal disruptions within the party.
Gbajabiamila, who spoke during a birthday event hosted by Abejide, commended the lawmaker for what he described as significant contributions to the (APC). He also advised Abejide to ignore overtures from APC members urging him to formally defect to the ruling party.
Reacting during an appearance on ’s Morning Show, George described the comments as inappropriate and called for their immediate retraction.
He expressed surprise at Gbajabiamila’s remarks, stating that while errors are possible, the statement represented a serious political misstep.
“I’m very shocked when I saw the video of my younger brother, Femi Gbajabiamila. People make mistakes, and I did not under any circumstances believe that he would make that kind of mistake,” George said.
“It was utterly wrong and he must apologize to the public for that statement. That is my stand. He is my brother and I can’t denounce him, but what he said was a monumental political mistake. He should apologize publicly. I don’t agree with him.”
George maintained that despite his personal regard for Gbajabiamila, the remarks were unacceptable and risked undermining political decorum, insisting that a public apology was necessary to address the situation.
